MEET LAURA

I help overwhelmed parents find balance and the connection, to ensure their kids grow up happy, confident, and responsible.

Hi I'm Laura

Mom of Five amazing kiddos…

I know what it’s like to feel completely overwhelmed, frustrated and angry as a parent.
My oldest daughter has always been peak intellectually, quick witted and very high energy child. She was always crying and was unconsolable unless she was nursing, I look back now and realize she was probably colicky, but at the time I had no idea! She was my first child and I needed support as a new parent. So, I became involved with a support group for nursing moms. It was from this group that I bloomed into leadership and continued on to become certified to teach the benefits of breastfeeding to new parents and help moms that were having struggles with their littles.

Strong-willed children often grow into strong-willed adults who become world leaders, world shapers, and world changers. Parenting them peacefully is not only possible, it’s imperative because sowing peace in their hearts now while they’re in our care will grow a future of peace later when the world is in their care.

Mama's of Autism!

My 2nd and 3rd child

Shortly after I had my 3rd child, I found out my 2nd child was on the Autism Spectrum. Not only was I learning to cope and adjust to the realization of his diagnosis, but when trying to advocate for him in school, I was asked by a special needs psychology educator, if I knew what Autism was. She truly had no idea there were degrees of the spectrum. At the time, schools did not recognize that high functioning kids need help in areas of development, other than if they could do their school work or not. Being the mama bear I am, to help my son get what he needed in school, I educated myself, on how to be a support person for ASD kiddos. I was inspired by an advocate I had hired to help me work with the school for my sons benefits, I completed my own certification.

Don’t think that there’s a different, better child ‘hiding’ behind the autism.   This is your child. Love the child in front of you. Encourage his strengths, celebrate his quirks, and improve his weaknesses, the way you would with any child.

The Strength You Have!

The Overwhelmed Mama!

It was When my twin boys were born at just 28 weeks gestation, arriving at a mere 2 pounds 2 ounces and 2 pounds 12 ounces, when I hit a wall in my parenting that I felt completely overwhelmed and out of control. I struggled with mom guilt, depression and anger on a daily basis. I had so much on my plate at the time, I was absolutely overwhelmed with life and the stress and little to no help from outside was exhausting! I needed to connect better with my kids so that I was not battling them on a daily basis as well!
This began my search to find a better way to parent.

Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.

Then I learned the secret!

I wanted to be a parent with compassion but also raise kids with critical thinking and awareness of how they were treating others as well. I studied how to parent with love and common sense. I felt pretty good about my parenting and how our young family was connecting. But soon I realized I was really parenting through a combination of Authoritarian parenting combined with some Authoritative parenting. The Authoritarian power parenting was not working well as my kids hit their exploratory preteen years and started testing the waters for independence. Life turned into arguments with a head strong, first born who could quickly out wit and challenged her parents words and rules.
I every day, my well mannered sweet preteen would challenge my authoritarian figure! The scariest part was, that this was just beginning of my journey through teenage years with five children! I wanted to put them on the road for success, not just teach them how to power their way through life! I wanted them to be able to make good decisions, and to also think for themselves with the ability to voice their opinions intelligently and productively! Having a yelling match with them, because they weren’t doing what I wanted them to do, was not showing them any of this!
I searched, and read, and took classes on how to work with teenagers. I learned their love languages and I learned how to be logical with them. Eventually I connected with the Jai Institute for parenting. I researched their philosophy and instantly connected with their teachings. I was so impressed by their tools for empathy, emotional intelligence training and non-violent communication. It was absolutely everything I needed and more! I was able created a peaceful home with TEENAGERS in it! Yes you read that right. Peace, with a TEENAGER in the house!

A balanced peaceful home with connection and communication, for myself and the whole family.

I knew the struggles I had gone through and I knew how much having these tools had changed my parenting abilities, so I jumped in with both feet and completed their Parent Coach Certification!

I have many certificates, degrees and trainings under my belt over the years, but the Parent Coach training and certification I received from Jai has filled my toolbox with all the tools I will ever need to be the well-rounded coach and parent I am today. And now I can teach you to become the peaceful parent you long to be!

All parents go through emotions and struggles, kids don’t always listen, and they like to talk back. Sometimes you’re just plain tired from working all day. The truth is, it does not matter the level of stress you have in your life, I can teach you the skills for calming emotions, and parenting without putting your frustration and anger onto your children. Yes, this is entirely possible! Even in stressful times.
